Doko, Koko,Asoko ここ,そこ,あそこ in Japanese

Before we study koko,soko,asoko would better we study this sentence pattern. Please remember this pattern and commonly this is a elementary Japanese.

  • Koko (ここ)indicates that the place where the speaker is, 
  • soko (そこ) indicates that the place where the listener is, and 
  • asoko (あそこ)a place is distant from both speaker and listener.

Note : when the speaker regards the listener as sharing her or his territory, the place where they both are is designated by ここ, in this situation , そこindicates a place slightly distant from them. あそこ is  a far away.
N + + Place + です
The grammar usually using when state where a place, thing or person.

Example;
  • 郵便局 (ゆうびんきょく) はあそこです
  • post office is over there.

  • 食堂(しょくどう) はあそこです
  • Canteen is overthere.
