Grammar Desu (です)

1. です

Nouns used with です work as predicates. Besides indicating judgement or assention , negative or in the past tense. Usually using a patern;
N1 + は + N2 + です.
example:
  • 私(わたし) は 学生(がくせい)です .
  • i am a student.
です (desu) で す also shows formality form. So if you want to apply a job in  Japan Company or etc, While being interviewed, usually at the end of sentence, using です.

2. で は ありません/ じゃありません

its negative form of です . The means is "not". Usually using a patern;
N1 + は + N2 + で は ありません/ じゃありません
Example:
  • 私 (わたし) は 先生 (せんせい) じゃ(では) ありません.
  • i am not a teacher

3. if added ka ( か ) at the end of sentence, then to be a question sentence

N1 + は + N2 + です+ か
example;
  • ナルト は アニメ ですか
  • Is Naruto an anime?
to reply usually answered by (はい) to agreed the statement or (いいえ) to disagree with the statement.

  • ナルト は アニメ ですか.
  • Is Naruto an anime?
  • はい, ナルト は アニメ です.
  • Yes, Naruto is an Anime.
  • いいえ,  ナルト は アニメ じゃ(では) ありません.
  • No, Naruto is not an Anime.
